When people think of Plant City, they can't help but think of its rich history as a strawberry farming community. Plant City is primarily an agricultural community, as it once was a large cotton center. But ever since the production of strawberries, it has become popular as the winter strawberry capital of the world.

Over the years, Plant City has embraced and celebrated those roots with the annual Strawberry Festival, held each Spring. Plant City was named after Henry B. Plant who's railroad allowed the city to become the winter strawberry capital of the world.
